Supporting the curriculum in the classroom.

A useful resource for teachers working with dyslexic children.

Teachers

Dancing Kites Creative Learning books have been designed with the dyslexic pupil in mind.

These books work! I have proved it over and over again at my dyslexia centre, The Chilterns IDL Centre.

Special discounts available for teachers. Please email info@dancingkites.co.uk for more information.

Dancing Kites Creative Learning’s three steps correlate to the nationally recognised and used Alpha to Omega scheme with its stages 1 to 3 in terms of language progression and spelling age bands. They are designed to appeal to a wide age range.

Our books contain:

  • Short, simple, amusing poems
  • Language appropriate to their developmental stage
  • Fun illustrations
  • Interactive activities
  • Dyslexia-friendly design to help reading

They have been developed to be used by specialists, classroom teachers, learning support staff, as well as by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, carers at home – in fact anyone who wants to help children engage with the written word and enjoy the process!

But they are much more than fun picture books. They are resources to support and supplement school work. You do not need extra resources to help with the activities – a pen or pencil and a sense of humour are all that is required to help the child complete the activities!

The three steps take children from being supported to becoming independent readers and spellers, helped by the underlying progression and choice of language of the ranges of books.

The layout and format of these books is designed to encourage pupils to be less dependent on the illustrations to help decode the words. Books at Step 2 also have illustrated poems with activities to stimulate the imagination and reinforce learning, but at a more challenging level in terms of language choice.

A testimonial from a teacher on Amazon about My Dog Nick:

I have been using this book with children who have reading and writing problems in my classes and it's been a success every time. In fact the children are always asking if they can see the 'My Dog Nick' book. They love the illustrations and exercises and don't even realise that they are working and learning. This is the first book I have seen that really works for dyslexics; the layout, colours and excellent content. More books, please, Dancing Kites!
